Business Administration (BBA) graduates seeking postgraduate business studies have one opportunity, but only once a year. The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at Rajshahi University has opened applications for the 19th cohort of its MBA program for the 2026-27 academic year, and applications are being accepted until August 26.
Which MBA Programme This Is
This is more important than most applicants realize. IBA Rajshahi offers three distinct MBA programs: the regular MBA for Business Administration graduates (BBA), an Evening MBA, and an Executive MBA, each with its own application period, admission requirements, and schedule.
The current application period is for the MBA for Business Administration graduates (BBA) program. If you are a working professional interested in the Executive or Evening programs, this application period does not apply to you.
Who Can Apply
The eligibility criteria are straightforward:
- A BBA degree from a recognised public or private university
- A minimum CGPA of 2.5 on the 4.0 scale in that BBA
For applicants holding other qualifications, the Institute determines equivalence on a case-by-case basis. Admission to this programme is held only once a year, so a missed deadline means a full year’s wait.
How Candidates Are Selected
Selection runs in two stages, and both count toward the final decision.
Stage one — the written test. Candidates sit an admission test at IBA covering three areas: English, Mathematics and Aptitude.
Stage two — the interview. Those who clear the written test are called for an interview.
The final selection is not based on the test alone. IBA weighs three things together: past academic records, performance in the written test, and performance in the interview.
The GMAT Shortcut
One provision is worth knowing for applicants with international test scores. Candidates who have scored 400 or above on the GMAT, with at least a 25th percentile score in verbal and a 40th percentile in quantitative, are not required to sit the written admission test. They apply directly for the interview using the prescribed form.
What It Costs
According to official IBA program information, the application fee is 800 taka, while the total program cost is approximately 96,200 taka, including registration, tuition, semester and exam fees, lab and library fees, internships, and the graduation ceremony.
Students must also cover the cost of reading materials and pay a refundable deposit of 200 taka for each library book borrowed each semester. IBA advises that all fees and charges are subject to change, so applicants should confirm the current figures in the circular.
What Applicants Should Check Next
Two essential details for every applicant are found in the official circular, not in news summaries: the date of the entrance exam and the number of available places. Download the circular directly from iba-ru.ac.bd, where it is published in the announcements section, and verify the application procedure and fee before submitting any documents.
Applicants can also contact the IBA MBA Program Office, Rajshahi University, Rajshahi-6205, for further information. International citizens are also eligible to apply, provided they meet the same exam or GMAT requirements.
Rising Barta will publish the entrance exam schedule as soon as IBA announces it. Good luck to all applicants!
