Fifteen University of Chittagong students have been recommended as Civil Judges. They were recommended in the 18th Bangladesh Judicial Service examination.
The information was confirmed on Thursday. The 18th BJS results were published on Wednesday, September 23. The students passed the required stages of the exam. The Bangladesh Judicial Service Commission held those stages.
The 15 recommended students are Hefzur Rahman Emon, Daniel Sarwar Bhuiyan, Dipankar Barua, Apollo Dewan and Amirul Islam Munna. The list also includes Ibrahim Khalil Khan Sinan, Anik Das, Abhi Dutta, Majeda Mahbub Smriti and Jannatul Ferdous Sonia.
The other five are Ikramul Alam Fahim, Md. Rakib Hasan, Tasnim Nuha, Shahidul Islam Swapan and Md. Shakil Hossain. They studied at the university in sessions from 2013–14 to 2019–20.
The Bangladesh Judicial Service exam recruits judges for lower courts. Candidates pass several stages before they can be recommended. These stages include a preliminary exam, a written exam and an oral exam.
Md. Rakib Hasan said it was his first attempt. He said he felt very happy after seeing his roll number. He said his family was also very happy.
Dipankar Barua said becoming a Civil Judge was a major success for him. He said his late father had dreamed of seeing him succeed. He also said his father’s support and sacrifice helped him.
Barua said he wants to work with honesty and fairness. He also said he wants to help protect people’s right to justice.
Md. Shakil Hossain said his mother and wife were happy after the result. He said he had imagined becoming a judge before the result came out. The published result then made that hope real.
Tasnim Nuha said she was recommended as a judge on her first attempt. She said preparing for the LLM and BJS exams together was hard. She thanked her parents, family, teachers, classmates and well-wishers for their support.
The recommendation of the 15 students came after the 18th BJS examination process was completed. The examination results were published on September 23.
