The letters were issued after a review ordered at a meeting led by Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A. N. M. Ehsanul Haque Milon.
A total of 694 candidates who were waiting for appointment letters got their letters on Sunday. They are candidates for assistant teacher posts in government primary schools.
The step came after a meeting held on Saturday. The minister gave instructions to review the cases, according to sources at the Ministry of Education cited by Dainikshiksha.com.
The sources said 1,383 candidates had been reported as waiting for appointment letters across the country. Of them, 694 have now been checked and cleared. Their appointment letters were sent on Sunday.
The other candidates will get their letters in phases after checks are complete. If cases are not cleared after October 1, they will be reviewed one by one, the sources said.
The latest move has cut the number of pending cases by about half. Around 700 candidates are still waiting for their cases to be cleared.
The sources also said 530 people had moved elsewhere and were no longer waiting for the job. The figure was given from a total of 14,384 people.
The pending appointment issue was reviewed again at Saturday’s meeting. The latest checks followed the minister’s instructions.
Candidates whose cases are still pending will face more checks before any letter is sent. Cases not cleared after October 1 will be looked at on an individual basis.
