The government will honor 101 distinguished teachers with cash awards, crests and certificates on October 5.
The government will honor 101 distinguished teachers from across Bangladesh on World Teachers’ Day. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Monday afternoon.
Each selected teacher will receive Tk 200,000, a crest and a certificate of appreciation. The recognition is being given for their contributions to nation-building through education.
According to the information provided, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will attend the ceremony as the chief guest. He will present the awards to the distinguished teachers.
Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan will preside over the event. The ceremony will mark World Teachers’ Day on October 5.
101 teachers selected for recognition
The government has selected teachers from primary education to higher education for this year’s awards. The number is much higher than the 12 teachers honored previously.
At the primary level, 10 teachers will receive the award. This includes eight teachers from general education and two from madrasas.
A total of 20 teachers have been selected from the secondary level. They include 10 from general education, five from technical education and five from madrasas.
Another 25 teachers will receive recognition from the college level. Of them, 15 are from general education, five from technical education and five from madrasas.
The list also includes 20 teachers from general universities. Eighteen are from public universities, while two are from private universities.
Recognition across higher education
The government has also included teachers from medical, agricultural and engineering education. Ten teachers from medical education will receive the award.

Of the 10 medical education recipients, five are from medical colleges and five are from medical universities. Three teachers have been selected from agricultural universities.
Three teachers from engineering universities will also receive the recognition. Four more have been selected from science and technology universities and specialized universities.
In addition, six teachers have been selected directly by the Prime Minister.
Awards mark teachers’ contribution
The awards are intended to recognize teachers who have contributed to education and nation-building. The government has expanded the number of recipients this year compared with the previous recognition.
The World Teachers’ Day ceremony will bring together selected teachers from different levels of education. The awards will be presented during the event at Osmani Memorial Auditorium.
The selected teachers are expected to receive the cash award, crest and certificate during the ceremony on October 5.
