A survey by Dainikshiksha.com found strong support for a policy focused on technical education. The poll ran from Saturday morning to Sunday morning on the education news website.
A total of 1,447 internet users took part in the survey. Of them, 1,309 voted Yes, 119 voted No, and 19 gave no comment. The survey asked if the nation needs an education policy based on technical education.
The results show that 90 percent of those who took part supported the idea. Nine percent did not support it, while one percent gave no view. These figures cover only the people who joined the website poll.
The survey had three choices: Yes, No and No Comment. Dainikshiksha.com conducted the poll on its website.
The poll comes as technical education is getting more focus in public talks on education. It gives students skills and training for work in many fields.
On October 2, Monirul Haque Chowdhury, MP for Comilla-6, spoke in favour of a policy based on technical education. He made the remarks as chief guest at the opening of a three-day Technical Education and Innovation Fair.
The fair began at the Comilla Town Hall field. Chowdhury said the country needs an education policy based on technical education.
“Today’s generation is a ball of fire; if they can be guided along the right path, Insha’Allah, one day Bangladesh will make its mark in every field,” he said.
The survey adds public views to the wider debate on technical education. But it was an online poll on one website and does not show the views of the whole population.
For students and families, technical education can offer skills linked to work and training. Its place in the national education system remains part of the wider policy discussion.
The survey results now provide one measure of views among participating internet users. Future steps on education policy will depend on the relevant authorities.
