The Directorate of Primary Education has set conditions for transfers and attachments, warning that orders may be cancelled if the rules are not met.
Transfer orders have been issued for another 77 teachers at government primary schools in Bangladesh. The Directorate of Primary Education has imposed several conditions that teachers must meet for their transfers or attachments to remain valid.
The conditions were outlined in an order issued by the directorate on Thursday. Under the rules, a transfer order may be cancelled if the stated requirements are not fulfilled.
Conditions for teacher transfers
If five or fewer teachers are working at a teacher’s current school, the transfer will take effect only after a replacement is arranged. This condition applies to transfers from schools with a limited number of teachers.
If the receiving school has no vacant post, the transfer order will be treated as an attachment for one year. An attachment allows a teacher to work at a school without a vacant post under the specified arrangement.
However, the order will be cancelled if three or more teachers are already attached to the school where the teacher is supposed to work. In that case, the applicant must submit a new application.
Rules for teacher attachments
Similar conditions apply to attachment orders. If five or fewer teachers are working at the teacher’s current school, the order will take effect only after a replacement is arranged.
An attachment order will also be cancelled if three or more teachers are already attached to the intended school. The affected teacher must then submit a new application.
The directorate has also specified the duration of an attachment. It will remain in effect for one year from the date the teacher joins the school.
What the new conditions mean for teachers
The conditions require teachers to consider staffing levels and existing attachments before a transfer or attachment can proceed. Teachers whose orders do not meet these requirements risk cancellation and may need to apply again.
The latest order covers another 77 government primary school teachers. The Directorate of Primary Education’s stated conditions will determine whether the transfer and attachment orders remain valid.
