Results of 2,436 students changed after the Jashore Board checked 74,717 answer scripts.

A total of 1,684 chief examiners and examiners face disciplinary action over errors in this year’s SSC results under the Jashore Education Board. The action follows changes in the results of 2,436 students after a review of their answer scripts.

Jashore Education Board Controller of Examinations Professor S M Hossain Ali confirmed the matter on September 23. He said a plan has been proposed to stop the examiners from checking SSC answer scripts for the next two years.

The board’s disciplinary committee will make the final decision. Other steps are also being considered. These include stopping the examiners from setting question papers.

Board sources said 28,862 students applied to have 74,717 answer scripts checked in 25 subjects. The results of 2,436 students changed after the checks.

Of them, 380 students had failed but later passed. The grades of 1,304 students also changed. Some students got a GPA-5 for the first time.

The board then checked the scripts linked to the changed results. It found 1,684 chief examiners and examiners involved in the cases. Their cases are now before the board for action.

The proposed two-year ban would stop the examiners from checking SSC answer scripts. The board will also decide if other penalties are needed.

The Jashore Board has taken action over exam marking errors before. After the 2020 SSC and JSC script checks, 290 examiners were blacklisted.

That year, 10,746 students asked for JSC scripts to be checked. The results of 159 students changed. Of them, 54 students moved from fail to pass. Another 83 students got GPA-5 for the first time.

After the 2021 SSC script checks, the results of 60 students changed. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, exams were held in only three elective subjects that year. The board named 19 examiners and stopped them from checking scripts for two years.

Errors were also found during checks of the 2025 HSC results. In many scripts, marks on inside pages were not added correctly to the main page. The board blacklisted 72 examiners and stopped them from checking scripts for at least one year.

A script check does not normally mean marking the full paper again. It checks if marks were given for each question. It also checks if marks were added and moved to the main page correctly.

The process also checks the OMR sheet and computer records. This helps find errors in mark entry and result data.

The board’s disciplinary committee will decide the final action against the examiners linked to this year’s SSC result changes.
