HSC Supplementary Exams Likely to Begin on December 2

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee plans to publish the results by December 31, with an official notice expected on November 4.

The supplementary examinations for students who failed in three or more subjects in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are likely to begin on December 2. The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has made an initial decision to hold the examinations and publish the results by December 31.

Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education and president of the committee, confirmed the plan to Shiksha.com on Monday afternoon (November 2).

He said the examination date was likely to be finalised on Tuesday. The education boards plan to issue an official notice on November 4.

“We are planning to publish the results by December 31. You will be able to learn everything from the notice,” he said.

Education Boards Prepare Supplementary Exam Plan

The proposed examinations aim to give students who failed in multiple subjects another opportunity to pass without losing an entire academic year.

The plan follows an announcement by Education Minister Dr A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan at the HSC results announcement ceremony on October 31. He said the government planned to arrange supplementary examinations for students who failed in one or two subjects.

The minister said the initiative aimed to prevent students from losing a full academic year because of failure in a limited number of subjects.

The latest plan from the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee covers students who failed in three or more subjects. The proposed December schedule is still subject to final approval.

HSC Pass Rate Stands at 52.12%

This year’s HSC and equivalent examinations recorded a pass rate of 52.12 per cent across the country’s 11 education boards.

A total of 1,240,798 candidates took part in the examinations. Of them, 646,685 students passed, while 594,113 failed.

The large number of unsuccessful candidates makes the supplementary examination plan important for students and their families. A second opportunity could help eligible students continue their education without waiting another full academic year.

Official Notice Expected on November 4

The education boards are expected to provide detailed information through an official notice on November 4. The notice will clarify the examination schedule and other arrangements for eligible students.

Students who failed in three or more subjects should follow announcements from their respective education boards for confirmed dates and instructions.
