Re-evaluation found marking problems in some answer scripts, with thousands of student results changing after review.
Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan has said action will be taken against examiners who failed to assess answer scripts properly. He spoke at a meeting at the Education Ministry in Dhaka on Monday, September 28.
The minister said a new review found weak marking in some scripts. The scripts will be marked for review. The examiners will also have their work checked.
He said the examiners have been found. They will get training. They will also face steps to ensure proper work. The minister did not say how many examiners were found.
The SSC review changed grades for 27,836 students. Marks changed for 56,259 students. A total of 4,585 students passed after they had first failed. Another 3,079 students got GPA-5 after the review.
This year, 1,829,485 students sat for the SSC exam. The review drew 1,287,000 requests for written and practical papers.
The minister said the old review mainly checked marks on sheets. It did not fully check mistakes in scripts. He said the new system will review the scripts in full.
The meeting was held for World Teachers’ Day. Senior officials and other guests also joined the meeting. The ministry will later say what steps will be taken against the examiners.
