Online applications for admission to eleventh grade for the 2026-27 school year open today, Wednesday, September 2, and close at 8 p.m. on September 10. The application fee is 220 taka. Classes begin on September 23.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, coordinator of the Inter-Agency Education Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Board of Education, confirmed the schedule. The admissions policy, which was published by the Ministry of Education and the boards on August 24, reserves 7% of places under a quota system, leaving the remaining 93% available to all applicants based on merit.
The full timeline
- 2 to 10 September, until 8pm — online applications
- 12 to 13 September, until 8pm — applications from students whose grades changed on re-scrutiny, and the only window for changing your preference order
- 17 September, 8pm — selection results published
- 19 September, 8pm — deadline to confirm your admission
- 20 to 22 September — admission at the selected college
- 23 September — classes begin
Read that fourth line carefully. If you do not confirm by 8pm on 19 September, both your selection and your application are cancelled. Not deferred, not rolled over. Cancelled.
What it costs
The application fee is 220 taka, payable via the Sonali payment gateway, SSLCommerz, or mobile banking.
Admission fees have a maximum limit that varies depending on the location and type of institution, ranging from 1,500 to 8,500 taka. For MPO institutions, the maximum limit is 5,000 taka in the Dhaka metropolitan area, 3,000 taka in other metropolitan areas, 2,000 taka at the district level, and 1,500 taka in upazilas and rural areas. In addition, each student pays a Red Crescent contribution of 24 taka and an annual sports scholarship of 400 taka, both payable to the board of directors.
Check the board’s dates, not your college’s
Several universities in Dhaka published their own admission notices in late August, before the board finalized the schedule, and some of those dates no longer match.
For example, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College set its preliminary confirmation period from 8:00 p.m. on September 16 to 8:00 p.m. on September 18. The board publishes the selection results at 8:00 p.m. on September 17. A student cannot confirm a result that has not yet been published, so that notice was clearly worded against an earlier draft.
The board’s schedule takes precedence. If your university’s notice and the board’s dates do not match, follow the board’s instructions and ask your university to clarify the situation.
Before you apply
- Fix your preference order carefully. After 10 September you can only change it in the 12 to 13 September window, and only that once
- Apply in this round even if you have filed for re-scrutiny. The September 12 window is for students whose grades actually change, not a second general chance
- Keep the payment receipt and your application number somewhere you can find them on 17 September
- Nothing has been announced about what happens after 23 September for students who are not selected, so treat this round as the one that counts
One detail that no one has mentioned: the results will be published at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, and confirmation closes at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19. This gives a 48-hour window that covers almost the entire weekend. Those planning to make the payment on a weekday will find that there isn’t one.
