Educational institutions to begin Durga Puja holidays from October 18

Schools, colleges, madrasas and technical institutions will have breaks of different lengths.

Schools and colleges across Bangladesh will begin Durga Puja holidays from October 18. The holiday dates will vary by type of institution, based on the annual holiday list of the Ministry of Education.

Government and private colleges will have the longest break. Colleges will have 20 vacation days in October, including weekly holidays. The Puja and Lakshmi Puja holidays will run from October 18 to 29.

With weekly holidays before and after the break, college classes will stop for 16 days in a row. Classes will be held for 10 days in October.

Government and private secondary schools will close from October 18 to 22. With weekly holidays and the October 25 Lakshmi Puja holiday, the break will last 10 days in a row.

Secondary schools will also have other weekly holidays. They will hold classes for 15 days in October.

State primary schools will close from October 18 to 22. With weekly holidays and the October 25 holiday, they will also have 10 days off in a row.

State and private madrasas will follow a separate schedule. Their holidays will run from October 20 to 22. With weekly holidays, the break will last five days in a row.

Technical schools will close from October 18 to 22. With weekly holidays and the October 25 holiday, they will have 10 days off in a row.

Public universities set their own holiday dates. Each university makes the decision through its own authority. The length of the Puja break will depend on its study calendar.

The government has also added a holiday for government workers. October 22 has been declared a holiday by an executive order. Government workers will get five days off during this year’s Durga Puja.

The schedules will give different breaks to students, teachers and staff. Classes and other activities will resume under each institution’s holiday calendar.
