The National University has extended the online preliminary application deadline for admission to its on-campus Master’s program for the 2023-24 academic year. Applications will be accepted until midnight on September 15.
The application fee is 1000 taka, payable via Sonali Seba or designated mobile banking, and is due on September 22. The university issued the notice on September 1.
Two deadlines, not one
This is the part to get right.
The application deadline is September 15. The fee payment deadline is September 22. There are seven days between these two dates, so it’s easy to submit the online form, receive a confirmation, and assume the process is complete.
However, this isn’t the case. The extension notice doesn’t specify what happens to an unpaid application, but the National University clarified its position in a separate notice this month: when a fee is due within a certain timeframe, an unpaid application is not considered submitted. Pay the fee, and do so before the deadline, not on the same day.
This is the university’s own campus
Worth being clear about, because it decides whether this notice applies to you at all.
Most students at the National University study at affiliated centers located throughout the country. These Final Master’s programs are taught on the university campus itself, directly by the university. They are not the same as the Master’s programs offered through the affiliated centers, and the admissions process is separate.
If you are seeking admission to a Master’s program at an affiliated center rather than at the university itself, this notice is not relevant to you.
The 21 subjects
Admission is offered across five faculties.
- Humanities and Law — Bangla, History, Islamic Studies, English
- Social Sciences — Sociology, Economics, Library and Information Science
- Natural Sciences and Technology — Chemistry, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics
- Biological and Earth Sciences — Zoology, Geography and Environment, Botany, Home Economics
- Business Studies — Accounting and Information Systems, Management Studies, Marketing, Finance and Banking, Tourism and Hospitality
Note the session year
This is the 2023-24 session, being admitted in September 2026.
This is not a mistake and, at the moment, it is not unusual. Several institutions are holding delayed sessions: the Bangladesh Board of Technical Education held its 2025 diploma exams in August, and the Bangladesh Open University is currently holding its 2025 Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Social Sciences (BSS) exams. Applicants should be aware that program information may vary from the scheduled dates.
What the notice does not say
This is an extension, not a full circular. It does not specify the original deadline, the reason for the extension, the number of places available, eligibility criteria, or the required grade point average (GCPA).

Before 15 September
- Confirm your subject is on the list above and that you want the university campus rather than a college
- Complete the online preliminary application well before midnight on the 15th
- Diarise 22 September separately for the fee. Two dates, two actions
- Keep the payment reference once you have paid
- Check eligibility and CGPA requirements on the admission site before paying, since the fee is Tk 1,000 and there is no indication it is refundable
