School boards will publish the SSC test review results on September 10. The deadline to apply for admission to 11th grade is 8:00 p.m. that same day.
This leaves students whose scores change with virtually no available places during the main application period, and the board chair has already explained what will happen if something goes wrong.
What the board chief said
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, coordinator of the Inter-School Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, told Jugantor that the scheduled date is September 10 and that he expects students to receive their results that day. He added that if the release of the results is delayed for any reason, the application deadline for eleventh grade admission will also be extended.
This is a pre-announced contingency measure, in case the committee itself created a scheduling conflict.
Why 10 September matters twice
Applications for 11th grade opened on September 2nd and close at 8 p.m. on September 10th. There is a second application period on September 12th and 13th, but it is only open to students whose grades have changed after a review.
Therefore, a student awaiting the results of a review will know if their grades have changed on the last day. If the results are late or delayed, the main application period is missed.
The practical advice remains the same and is even more important now than it was a week ago. Apply in this round regardless of whether you have a pending review request. The September 12th deadline is a correction mechanism for changed grades, not a second chance for those who were unable to apply in the first round.
44,000 scripts a day
Here is why the timeline is tight in a way most coverage has not explained.
This is the first year that examination boards are genuinely re-evaluating exams instead of simply verifying that the marks were totaled correctly. Until this cycle, challenging an SSC exam meant that someone would check the calculations. Akhtaruzzaman confirmed in August that additional examiners were being hired to review the answers.
The application period ended on August 17. The results will be published on September 10. This allows 24 days to re-evaluate 1,056,455 theory exams, which equates to approximately 44,000 exams per day.
Jugantor reports that students and their tutors are uncertain whether the examination boards will be able to meet the deadline, while officials maintain that preparations are on track. This uncertainty is better understood given that the process itself changed this year.
The scale of the applications
Across the eleven examination boards, 402,051 students submitted 1,287,926 applications: 1,056,455 for theory exams and 231,471 for practical exams. Students can register for more than one subject, so applications outnumber applicants by approximately three to one.
The Dhaka examination board received the most applications: 94,236 students, who took 277,665 theory exams and 58,012 practical exams. Next came the Madrasah board with over 40,000 applicants, followed by Rajshahi and Chattogram with over 39,000 each, Dinajpur with over 37,000, Cumilla with over 35,000, Jessore with over 28,000, Mymensingh with 27,676, Sylhet and Technical with over 20,000 each, and Barishal with over 17,000.
What to do before Thursday
- Complete your class XI application before 8pm on 10 September, whatever your re-scrutiny status
- Check your re-scrutiny result on 10 September through your board’s website
- If your grade changes, the 12 to 13 September window is where you act on it
- Watch for a board notice on any extension. It has been signalled, not announced
