The application process for Xi Class Admission 2026-2027 academic year is expected to begin in the last week of July, according to education board sources.
As in previous years, students will be admitted to colleges based on their Grade Point Average (GPA). The entire application process will be conducted online.
Sources said students will be able to select a minimum of five and a maximum of ten colleges in order of preference. No major changes to the existing admission rules are expected this year.
The issue was discussed at a meeting of inter-education board college inspectors held at the Dhaka Education Board on Sunday. During the meeting, inspectors reviewed the draft admission policy for Class XI admissions in 2026.
Officials present at the meeting agreed to continue the GPA-based online admission system that has been in place in recent years. However, the final approval of the policy will come from the Ministry of Education.
According to college inspectors, the ministry’s decision will be implemented as the final admission policy.
Education officials said the college admission process differs significantly from school admissions. They noted that the online system helps reduce costs and saves time for students. It also limits opportunities for irregularities in the admission process.

Officials added that it would be difficult for many students to travel to several colleges and sit for separate admission tests. Under the online system, students can apply from one platform and rank their preferred colleges.
Students who are not selected in the first phase will also have the opportunity to change their preferences in later phases of the admission process.
Officials said the system receives direct technical support from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). They believe this helps ensure transparency in preparing merit lists and allocating colleges.
Class XI admissions across Bangladesh have been conducted based on GPA since 2015. However, a small number of mission-run and church-run institutions follow separate admission procedures under court orders.
These institutions conduct written admission tests for Class XI admissions. They include Notre Dame College, Holy Cross College, St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, and St. Gregory’s High School and College.
