HSC Exam 2026 Day 3: The HSC English 1st Paper Exam was conducted today, Monday (July 6) across the country. A total of 43 examinees were expelled during the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) English First Paper examination held across Bangladesh on Monday, according to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.
The English First Paper examination was conducted on the third day of the HSC and equivalent examinations under the country’s nine general education boards. Across all education boards, 48 examinees were expelled for adopting unfair means. The total included 43 under the general education boards, two under the Madrasah Education Board, and three under the Technical Education Board.
According to the committee, 997,021 examinees were scheduled to sit for the English First Paper examination at 1,620 centres under the nine general education boards. A total of 971,987 examinees took part, while 25,034 were absent. The absentee rate for the HSC examination on the day was 2.51 percent.
Among the general education boards, the Dhaka Education Board recorded the highest number of expulsions with 10 examinees. Cumilla Education Board expelled eight examinees, while Dinajpur and Mymensingh education boards each expelled seven. Barishal Education Board expelled four examinees, Rajshahi and Jashore education boards expelled three each, and Sylhet Education Board expelled one examinee. No expulsions were reported under the Chattogram Education Board.
The number of absent examinees varied across the education boards. Dhaka Board recorded the highest number with 5,841 absentees. Rajshahi had 3,522 absentees, Jashore 3,572, Cumilla 2,336, Chattogram 2,112, Dinajpur 2,852, Mymensingh 1,706, Barishal 1,629, and Sylhet 1,464.
The committee also reported that two examinees were expelled during the Alim Bangla First Paper examination under the Madrasah Education Board. A total of 83,333 examinees were expected to take part at 460 centres. Of them, 78,181 attended the examination, while 5,152 were absent, resulting in an absentee rate of 6.18 percent.
Under the Technical Education Board, Computer Office Application-2 and Career Guidance & Self-Employment examinations were held at 611 centres. Three examinees were expelled for using unfair means. Of the 83,776 registered examinees, 80,833 attended the examinations and 2,943 were absent. The absentee rate was 3.51 percent.
The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee also said no information was received from the eight overseas examination centres operating under the Dhaka Education Board.
The committee is expected to continue monitoring the remaining HSC and equivalent examinations as the examination schedule progresses.
