Agriculture Cluster Admission Test on 2 January, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Leading

The joint admission test for the group of agricultural universities, covering entry into the first year of undergraduate studies for the 2026–27 academic cycle, will be held on January 2, 2027. Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) will lead this year’s admission process.

The date was set by the group’s admission test committee. SAU has assumed responsibility for organizing and coordinating the exam, and work is currently underway to coordinate with the participating universities regarding the schedule and subsequent stages.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Latif stated that the university considers it a top priority to ensure the exam is conducted fairly and transparently, and that necessary preparations will be made to allow candidates to take the test in an orderly environment.

Almost nothing else has been published

The committee has yet to provide information regarding eligibility requirements, the application process, seat allocation, exam schedules, and test center locations.

The list of participating universities has not been released either. As the composition of these groups varies from year to year, any list currently circulating should be considered unconfirmed until the committee issues its own official statement. The same applies to grade point average (GPA) requirements and score distribution; any information found regarding these matters pertains to the previous year’s cycle.

Furthermore, this announcement originates from committee sources rather than a formal notification, making it less official than a published circular.

Not the same as the GST cluster

Worth stating plainly, because the two get confused constantly.

The agriculture group admits students jointly across the country’s higher education institutions specializing in agriculture and related fields, using a single entrance exam. The GST group operates as an independent system covering a distinct set of general universities, with its own exam, schedule, and application process.

A candidate applying to both groups is seeking admission to two completely independent systems; consequently, they must pay two sets of fees and take two exams.

The day after Jagannath

2 January is a Saturday, and it falls directly after Jagannath University’s A unit test on Friday 1 January.

That makes the first weekend of January the busiest opening to an admission season in recent memory, and anyone sitting both will do so on consecutive days. Since agriculture cluster candidates come from the science stream, that overlap is likely to be real for a large number of applicants, though Jagannath has not published which subjects each of its units covers.

The wider January calendar is already dense. KUET, Rajshahi University and Jagannath’s E unit all fall on 8 January, RU’s science unit on the 9th, RUET on the 14th, SUST on the 26th and 27th, and Chattogram University opens on the 29th.

What candidates should do now

  • Wait for the committee’s own notice before assuming anything about eligibility or fees
  • Treat any list of cluster universities you find online as unverified for this cycle
  • If Jagannath University is also on your list, plan for two tests on consecutive days at the start of January
  • Keep the whole January window clear where you can. Several application periods open in November, and each fee is separate

There is a trend this season that is hard to ignore. Twelve institutions and groups have already set dates for the 2026–27 cycle, yet virtually none have simultaneously published eligibility rules, fees, or the number of available spots. Candidates are being asked to plan their schedules months before knowing which options are actually open to them.

Rising Barta will report the agriculture cluster admission circular, including participating universities and the application window, when the committee publishes it.
