Students who did not get a college, as well as those who could not apply, will get another chance after the first phase ends.
A total of 14,415 students who did not get a college in the first phase of Class XI admission will get another chance to apply. The second phase will open after classes begin, according to the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and president of the committee, shared the information with the media on Thursday, September 17.
He said students who applied but did not get a college do not need to worry. Students who could not apply in the first phase will also get another opportunity.
However, the board has not announced a specific date for the second-phase application yet. The new application round will begin after the first phase of admission is completed and classes start.
The first-phase admission results were published on Wednesday, September 16. A total of 980,815 students were nominated for admission to colleges based on those results.
However, 2,205 students who achieved a GPA-5 were not nominated for admission to any college. These students will also have another opportunity to apply in the next phase.
416 Colleges and Madrasas Get No Students
The first phase also left 416 colleges and madrasas without any students. The education authorities have not yet decided what steps will be taken for these institutions.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman said the Ministry of Education will decide the next steps. The education boards will provide information about the institutions to the Education Minister and the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division.
“We will only present the information to the Education Minister and the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division and seek their opinions,” he said.
He added that further action will be taken based on their opinions.
For students who remain without a college, the next important step is the opening of the second-phase application. The board is expected to provide the application details after the first phase of the admission process and the start of classes.
