President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has agreed to join the event.
National University will hold its next convocation on January 23, 2027. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr A S M Amanullah gave the date to The Daily Campus on Sunday, September 20.
He said the president has agreed to join the event. The president is also the chancellor of the university.
Earlier on Sunday, the vice-chancellor met the president. He gave an update on study, research and other work at the university.
He also spoke about steps taken in the past two years. The two sides also talked about the second convocation.
National University began in 1992. It has held only one convocation in the past 33 years.
Many graduates have not had a chance to join a convocation. They have also faced problems in getting their main certificates.
Students have held protests to demand a convocation. Graduates have also asked the university to hold such events on a set basis.

The first convocation was held on January 17, 2017. It took place 25 years after the university began.
The event was held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre. The chancellor and the president were present.
The university later made plans for a new convocation more than once. But the plans were not put into effect in the next eight years.
The January 2027 event will be its second convocation.
