Colleges that charge more than approved Class XI admission fees may face action under the 2026–27 admission policy.
Final admission for Class XI for the 2026–27 academic year began on Sunday, September 20. Selected students can complete admission at their designated colleges until September 22.
The admission policy bars colleges from charging more than the fees approved by the education board. Colleges must also collect approved fees by issuing proper receipts.
The policy also sets penalties for violations. A college may lose permission to conduct classes or its recognition. Its MPO status may also be cancelled. For government colleges, action will be taken against responsible individuals under the relevant rules.
Clause 5.7 of the policy says colleges cannot collect fees above the approved amount. Private colleges must also display their admission fees, monthly tuition fees and other applicable charges on their notice board and website.
Class XI Admission Fees
Class XI admission fees vary by institution type and location. The approved range this year is Tk 1,500 to Tk 8,500.
For MPO-listed institutions in the Dhaka metropolitan area, the maximum fee is Tk 5,000 for both Bangla and English versions. In other metropolitan or divisional cities, the maximum is Tk 3,000.
At the district level, MPO-listed colleges can charge up to Tk 2,000. In upazila and rural areas, the maximum fee is Tk 1,500.
For non-MPO and partially MPO-listed institutions in Dhaka, the maximum fee is Tk 7,500 for the Bangla version and Tk 8,500 for the English version. At district headquarters, the limits are Tk 3,000 and Tk 4,000 respectively.
In upazila and rural areas, non-MPO and partially MPO-listed colleges can charge up to Tk 2,500 for the Bangla version and Tk 3,000 for the English version.
College and Group Changes
Students may later apply to change their college, group or subject after admission. Such changes will depend on education board permission and a board notice. The required fees must also be paid.
However, students cannot move from another group to the Science group. A student who passed from the Science group but later enrolled in another group also cannot return to the Science group.
The admission process will continue until September 22, after which students may seek permitted changes under the education board’s rules.
