The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for Saturday, July 11, may also be postponed due to the ongoing flood situation in Chattogram and the country’s southeastern region, education board officials said on Friday.
However, authorities stressed that no final decision has been made. The education boards are reviewing the latest situation and expect to announce a decision by Friday afternoon.
Several senior education board officials confirmed the matter to Rising Barta on Friday.
A senior official of the Chattogram Education Board, speaking on condition of anonymity, said authorities are seriously considering postponing Saturday’s examinations because of the flood conditions. The official said reports from district administrations are being reviewed before a final decision is taken.
Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, President of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, said authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

“We are monitoring the overall situation regarding tomorrow’s examination,” he told Rising Barta. He said officials are maintaining regular communication with the relevant authorities in Chattogram and will announce a decision by 4:00 PM after reviewing the latest information.
He added that if conditions worsen, the examinations could be postponed. If the situation remains stable, the examinations will proceed as scheduled.
Professor Dr. Parvez Sajjad Chowdhury, Controller of Examinations of the Chattogram Education Board, said no decision has yet been taken on Saturday’s examination.
According to him, flood situation reports have been requested from the Deputy Commissioners of the five districts under the Chattogram Division. He said one report had been received, while the remaining reports were still pending at the time of his comments.
The Deputy Commissioners were asked to submit their reports by 1:00 PM. After receiving and reviewing all reports, board officials will hold a meeting and make a final decision, he said.
Professor Khondokar Mohammad Sadekur Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board, also said that no final decision had been reached.
He told Rising Barta that board officials would meet later in the day to assess the overall situation. He said the examination could not be conducted if conditions remained unfavorable.
The possible postponement comes after HSC and equivalent examinations scheduled for July 8 were already postponed because of the flood situation. Authorities have not yet announced a new date for those examinations.
Education board officials said a final announcement on Saturday’s examinations will be made after the latest flood reports and field conditions are reviewed.
