DCU Science and Business Unit Exams on July 17: Timing, Seat Plan and What Candidates Must Know

Published On: July 15, 2026 7:50 PM

The final round of admissions for Dhaka Central University takes place this Friday. Entrance exams for the Science and Business Studies units will be held on July 17 in two sessions on the same day. With seat assignments now available, candidates should begin preparing today.

Dhaka Central University, comprised of the capital’s seven government colleges, has already completed entrance exams for the Arts and Social Sciences units and published the results. Entrance exams for first-year undergraduate students for the 2025-2026 academic year will conclude on Friday.

Exam Timing: Two Shifts, One Day

Mark the schedule carefully, because the two units sit at opposite ends of the day:

  • Science unit: 11 AM to 12 PM (morning shift)
  • Business Studies unit: 3 PM to 4 PM (afternoon shift)

Both exams will be held at the seven government college centers in Dhaka. Candidates applying to both units under eligible combinations should plan the full day, including travel and food between shifts.

Seat Plan Is Now Online

The seat plan for both units is being published on the university website from July 14 — meaning it is already available. Log in at www.dcu.ac.bd, find your center and room, and if possible, visit your center location a day ahead. On exam morning, Dhaka traffic will not forgive guesswork.

The Competition: Science Is the Toughest Fight

The numbers explain why every mark will count on Friday.

The Science unit offers 4,795 seats, against which 31,553 candidates have applied — nearly seven contenders per seat, the highest ratio among all three DCU units. The Business Studies unit has 1,997 seats and 11,244 applicants, roughly five to six per seat.

Across the three units, Dhaka Central University received 65,680 applications for 11,290 total seats this year — about six candidates per seat overall.

Marks You Need to Pass

The test follows the MCQ format, and two numbers matter:

  1. 40 marks minimum to pass the admission test
  2. At least 5 marks in the relevant subject to qualify for your desired subject during subject allocation

That second rule surprises many candidates. Scoring well overall but skipping questions from your target subject can still cost you the department you want, so distribute your answers wisely.

Exam-Day Checklist

  • Print or save your admit card and check the roll number
  • Confirm your center and room from the seat plan tonight, not Friday morning
  • Reach the center at least 45 minutes early — morning-shift candidates should account for office-hour traffic
  • Carry the essentials only; follow the center’s rules on what is allowed inside

What Comes After

Once Friday’s exams end, results and the subject-choice phase will follow, and the university has indicated that regular classes for the 2025–26 honours first year will begin on September 6.

Rising Barta will publish the Science and Business unit results the moment they are released — just as we did with the Arts unit. Best of luck to every candidate on Friday!
