52 Out of 53 Students Win Primary Scholarship From One School in Chapainawabganj

Some results fill a school with pride. This one, however, has become the talk of the entire district. At Nawabganj Government Model Primary School in the city of Chapainawabganj, 53 students took the 2025 Primary Scholarship Exam, and 52 of them received scholarships.

The breakdown makes the achievement even more gratifying. Of the 52 winners, 40 received the academic merit scholarship, reserved for students with the highest grades, while 12 received the general scholarship. Principal Latifa Haque confirmed the result on Sunday, July 12, the same day the national results were released.

A Success Rate of 98 Percent

The numbers speak for themselves. Nationwide, 79,246 students received scholarships this year out of nearly 420,000 who took the exam. Against this backdrop, the fact that one school secured scholarships for 52 of its 53 applicants—a success rate exceeding 98%, with the vast majority among the most gifted students—stands out as exceptional.

The district education office concurs. The district’s primary education director, Md. Saiful Islam, described the school’s performance as a unique record for Chapainawabganj. He added a poignant detail: the only student who did not receive a scholarship is also highly talented, demonstrating the exceptional quality of this graduating class.

The Secret Behind the Result

How does a public elementary school achieve this? According to Principal Latifa Haque, there was no magic involved, just consistent hard work. She attributed the success to regular classroom instruction, special preparatory classes for the scholarship exam, and close, individualized supervision of each student.

She described the result as the combined effort of three groups working in the same direction: teachers who taught with sincerity, students who worked hard, and parents who remained involved. The parents of the winners shared that pride, stating that the long wait for this exam cycle, which was delayed, made the good news even more gratifying.

The school says it now intends to maintain this level, and the principal expressed her confidence that these students will achieve even better results in the coming years.

How Chapainawabganj Performed Overall

The district as a whole had an excellent year. Across the five upazilas of Chapainawabganj, a total of 963 students received scholarships: 420 in the talent category and 543 in the general category. Public primary school students led the way with 763 scholarships, while preschool students received 200.

The exam was held on April 15 at 12 centers throughout the district, with 5,838 students participating out of the 8,248 registered.

Why This Story Matters

Public elementary schools often struggle with the notion that quality education exists only in private institutions. A result like this—from a public school in a district town, competing nationally—refutes that notion with compelling evidence. Dedicated teachers and engaged parents can change outcomes anywhere.

Congratulations to the students, teachers, and parents of Nawabganj Model Public Elementary School. Rising Barta celebrates their success, and we will continue to share the stories behind the results, not just the numbers.
