The 2026 HSC exam will proceed as planned nationwide, with one exception. The Chittagong Board of Education is the only one where exams remain postponed, as heavy rains and flooding continue to disrupt daily life in the region.
The Inter-Agency Coordination Committee of Boards of Education confirmed the decision in a press release on Sunday, July 12, 2026. According to the release, students in all other boards should prepare for their exams on the previously announced dates. No changes have been made to the national exam schedule.
Which Boards Will Hold Exams on Time?
The exams will be held according to the usual schedule in the eight general education boards: Dhaka, Rajshahi, Cumilla, Jashore, Sylhet, Barishal, Dinajpur, and Mymensingh. The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and the Bangladesh Technical Education Board will also follow the same schedule, except in districts under the Chittagong board.
In short, if you are a candidate from outside the Chittagong region, there will be no changes. Your admission card, exam center, and exam dates will remain unchanged until further notice.
What Happens in Chittagong?
The situation is different for students in the Chittagong Education Council. Exams scheduled for July 13, 15, and 16 have been postponed in all districts under its jurisdiction. The postponement affects the Higher School Certificate (HSC), Food Science (Alim), Higher School Certificate (BMT), Higher School Certificate (Vocational), and Trade Diploma exams, including those for madrasas and technical colleges in the region.
The reason is well known. Continuous heavy rains have flooded much of Chittagong, making it difficult—and in many areas impossible—for students to reach their exam centers. The region experienced some of the heaviest rainfall in decades, and the roads remain in poor condition.
When Will the Postponed Exams Be Held?
No new date has been set yet. The coordinating committee indicated that the revised schedule for the postponed exams will be announced later by the respective examination boards. Chittagong students are advised to pay attention to official board announcements and avoid rumors on social media. Any new schedule will be communicated directly by the examination board.
This Week’s Exam Schedule
For candidates from the rest of the country, this is a busy week. On Monday, July 13, the schedule includes the first exams in Physics, Accounting, and Logic. Two more days of exams follow, on Wednesday, July 15, and Thursday, July 16.
Advice for Students
Candidates outside Chittagong should continue their preparation with full focus, since the routine stands unchanged. Reach your center early, carry your admit card, and follow the exam-day rules as usual.
Students in Chittagong, on the other hand, should use this extra time wisely. The postponed papers will return on new dates, so staying in revision mode is the smartest move right now.
Rising Barta will publish the revised Chittagong board routine as soon as it is officially announced.
