Primary Scholarship Results Leak Update: The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has temporarily suspended Md. Mehtab Kayes, Assistant Maintenance Engineer of the Directorate of Primary Education, after the results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination were uploaded before their official publication.
The suspension was announced in a gazette notification signed by Ministry Secretary Sakhawat Hossain on Friday, 10 July. The notification said the order was issued by the President.
According to the notification, Md. Mehtab Kayes has been suspended under Article 12(1) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, on charges of misconduct. The ministry said he uploaded the Primary Scholarship Results to the web portal without following the required security procedures before the competent authority officially approved their publication.
The suspension took effect from 9 July 2026, the day the examination results were uploaded to the web portal. During the suspension period, he will receive a subsistence allowance in line with government rules. The notification states that the order was issued in the public interest.
Earlier, on Thursday, 9 July, the Directorate of Primary Education formed a three-member investigation committee to examine how the results became publicly available before their scheduled release. The decision was announced in an office order signed by Director (Administration) Mahbuba Irene.
According to the office order, the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination results were finalized on 8 July. Md. Mehtab Kayes was assigned to create the links needed to upload the prepared results to the web portal. However, at around 10:00 am on 9 July, the results of nine districts under the Dhaka Division were uploaded through those links. The links remained active for a short period, allowing members of the public to download the results and share them on social media before the official announcement.
The investigation committee has been tasked with examining how the results were published without approval and submitting a detailed report. The committee is headed by Md. Mirajul Islam Ukil, Director of Planning and Development at the Directorate of Primary Education. Its other members are Md. Ziaul Kabir Sumon, Education Officer of the Stipend Division, and Mosammat Rokhsana Haider, Assistant Director of Administration-2.
Sources at the Directorate of Primary Education said disciplinary action had been recommended against Md. Mehtab Kayes for failing to follow the required security procedures while creating the upload links and placing the results on the live server.
The results of the 2025 Primary Scholarship Examination for fifth-grade students of government primary schools were originally scheduled to be published on Friday. However, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education postponed the publication at the last moment. If preparations proceed as planned, the results may be published at the beginning of next week.
Before the official release was postponed, parts of the leaked results had already appeared on social media. On Thursday afternoon, teacher Nizam Uddin Jewel shared a Facebook post claiming that five students from Borokanda Government Primary School had received scholarships. In a separate post, Guardian Kamrun Nahar Keya said her nephew had received a Talent Pool Scholarship.
The investigation into the leak is ongoing, and the Directorate of Primary Education is expected to submit its findings to the authorities before further action is taken.
