The students were found roaming around entertainment centres in school, college and madrasa uniforms before being handed over to their parents.
Thirty-five students were detained during a surprise raid in Chandanaish upazila of Chattogram after they were found roaming around instead of attending classes. The students were wearing school, college and madrasa uniforms when officials found them at various locations, including entertainment centres, on Thursday.
Chandanaish Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Abdur Rahman led the operation. The students were later released into the custody of their parents and guardians.
Students found at entertainment centres
Confirming the incident, UNO Md. Abdur Rahman said the administration conducted surprise raids at several entertainment centres. The operation aimed to maintain discipline in educational institutions and encourage students to focus on their studies.
During the raids, officials found several students wearing their institutional uniforms. They were spending time at different places instead of attending their scheduled classes.
The administration detained the students and took them to the Upazila Parishad. Officials then contacted their parents and guardians.
Parents called before students were released
The students were released after their parents or guardians arrived. Officials also warned them and advised them to attend classes regularly and give proper attention to their studies.
The administration said the operation was part of efforts to maintain discipline among students and discourage them from skipping classes.
The students were handed over to their families after receiving warnings and advice from the authorities.
