The holidays will run from November 6 to 8, covering the weekly break, National Revolution and Solidarity Day, and Shyama Puja.
Teachers and students at schools and colleges across Bangladesh are set to enjoy three consecutive days off in early November. Educational institutions will remain closed from Friday, November 6, to Sunday, November 8, according to the 2026 holiday schedule.
The break will cover the weekly holiday on Friday, National Revolution and Solidarity Day on Saturday, and Shyama Puja on Sunday.
According to the 2026 holiday list published by the Secondary and Higher Education Division, National Revolution and Solidarity Day will be observed on November 7. Shyama Puja, a major religious festival of the Hindu community, will fall on November 8.
As November 6 is already a weekly holiday, teachers and students will get three consecutive days off without an additional working day between the holidays.
The closure will apply to government and private schools and colleges, relevant technical educational institutions, and government primary schools.
Will the Holidays Apply to Madrasas?
There is some uncertainty over whether madrasa students will also receive the full three-day break.
Shyama Puja is not included in the holiday lists published by the Directorate of Technical Education and the Directorate of Madrasah Education. As a result, it has not yet been confirmed whether the festival holiday will apply to madrasa students.
Students, teachers and guardians should follow official notices from their respective educational authorities for confirmation.
The three-day break is expected to provide a short holiday for students and teachers at the institutions covered by the Secondary and Higher Education Division’s schedule. Educational institutions are scheduled to resume their regular activities after the holidays.
